Description

Make.com AI is a visual automation platform that in 2026 incorporates autonomous AI agents capable of making decisions, calling APIs, and running actions across more than 3,000 integrations. Since August 2025 it operates on a credit model (each module action consumes a credit) and lets users on paid plans bring their own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API key to lower costs. Autonomous agents (in beta since spring 2025) can be inserted into any scenario and act with reasoning across multiple apps. It's one of the most powerful alternatives to Zapier for teams that want smart automation without programming.

Key advantages

  • Native AI agents since 2025

Make AI Agents (beta) lets you build autonomous agents that execute actions across multiple apps with reasoning, available on all paid plans.

  • 3,000+ ready-made integrations

Covers practically the entire modern SaaS ecosystem, with one-click modules for OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, and hundreds of tools.

  • BYOK for AI models

Since November 2025 all paid plans let you connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, paying tokens directly to the provider.

  • Real visual interface for complex logic

Supports branches, iterators, error handling, and filters on a clear visual canvas, far superior to Zapier's linear model.

  • Functional free plan

1,000 operations/month on the Free plan lets you prototype real automations before paying.

Limitations to consider

  • Pricier credit model for agents

A workflow with AI Agents can consume 43-50 credits per execution (Small model), versus the few credits of a classic workflow.

  • Learning curve on large workflows

Scenarios with multiple branches, iterators, and error handling become hard to maintain without a clear structure.

  • Unclear error messages

Debugging errors in complex modules is still one of the platform's historical weak points.

  • Built for operations, not apps

It doesn't replace a backend or frontend: it's an automation layer between systems, not a development platform.

Standout Feature

In 2026 Make is one of the few visual platforms that integrates AI agents with autonomous reasoning inside no-code workflows, combining deterministic and adaptive logic on the same canvas. The combination of 3,000+ integrations and BYOK for AI models is almost unique.

Comparison with Alternatives

Against Zapier, Make offers a more powerful visual interface for complex logic and more mature AI agents for less money. Against n8n, it's less technical and more managed, but with less control over self-hosting.

Ideal User

Operations, marketing, and RevOps professionals who need to orchestrate dozens of SaaS tools with intelligent logic, without hiring custom development.

Learning Curve

Medium

Intuitive for simple workflows, but mastering AI Agents, error handling, and credit optimization takes practice.

Best For

  • Operations teams automating business processes
  • Creators connecting SaaS tools without code
  • Startups that need an automated back office
  • Automations with complex conditional logic

Not Ideal For

  • Traditional software development
  • Applications with their own UI
  • Teams with zero budget (the free plan is limited for agents)
