Description

Google Stitch is a Google Labs tool that generates high-fidelity user interfaces from prompts, images, sketches, or voice commands, returning clean HTML/CSS and production-ready React components. It's powered by Gemini models (Gemini 3, Gemini 2.5 Pro, and Flash) and in 2026 remains free while in the Google Labs experimental phase, with 350 generations in standard mode (Gemini Flash) and 200 in Experimental mode (Gemini Pro). It includes a native AI canvas with a design agent, voice commands for real-time critique, and exports to Figma and code. Since the December 2025 update, it incorporates Gemini 3 and the "Vibe Design" mode.

Key strengths

  • Free while it stays in Google Labs

As of April 2026 there are still no paid plans: the whole product is free for the duration of its experimental phase, which is exceptional.

  • Gemini 3 for design

The December 2025 update brought Gemini 3, significantly improving fidelity and the generated React code.

  • Multimodal input

It accepts text, images, sketches, screenshots, and even voice commands to guide the design in real time.

  • Export to Figma and code

You can take designs to Figma for refinement or directly export HTML/CSS and React components.

  • Design agent on the canvas

The canvas includes an agent that tracks progress, remembers context, and suggests iterations without breaking what's done.

Limitations to consider

  • Experimental phase: no guarantees

Being a Google Labs product, terms could change, pricing could be added, or it could even disappear without notice.

  • No backend or real logic

Stitch generates frontend: it doesn't create a backend, authentication, validations, or integrations.

  • Sometimes generic designs

Without very specific prompts it tends to produce similar layouts across projects, especially in Flash mode.

  • Monthly generation limits

350 + 200 generations/month is generous for exploration, but not enough for teams using it heavily.

Standout Feature

Stitch is one of the few 2026 UI generators that remains completely free, with access to Gemini 3, multimodal input (text, image, sketch, voice), and export to both Figma and React code. No paid competitor offers that combination at no cost.

Comparison with Alternatives

Versus Vercel's v0, Stitch is free and uses Gemini 3 instead of GPT, but with less integration into the deployment workflow. Versus Figma Make, it has more multimodal agents, though less team collaboration.

Ideal User

Product managers, developers, and designers who want to speed up the UI ideation phase without spending tokens or licenses, taking advantage of Gemini 3 for free within the Google Labs ecosystem.

Learning Curve

Low

Designed for non-designers: the curve is virtually nonexistent for the first use cases.

Best For

  • Rapid UI prototyping from a prompt
  • Developers without design skills
  • Exploring visual variants
  • Exporting to Figma or React code

Not Ideal For

  • Projects with very strict design systems
  • Designers who want pixel-perfect control
  • Teams that need advanced real-time collaboration
